about us 1

Happy Rock Dental, under the guidance of Dr. Kepler, is dedicated to supporting your child’s dental health and growth. We recognize the importance of early oral care and encourage parents to bring their child for a visit with our pediatric dentists as soon as their first teeth appear or by their first birthday at the latest. For more information on early infant oral care in Gladstone Mo, or to schedule an appointment with our team, please contact us at (816) 455-1200. We look forward to helping your child develop healthy dental habits and a lifetime of bright smiles.

Dr. Kepler recommends that all infants receive daily oral cleaning to promote healthy dental development. Begin by using a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe your baby’s gums and remove any lingering milk or formula, which can lead to bacteria buildup.

Around 6 months of age, teeth begin to emerge through the gumline and continue to develop until about age 3. At this stage, it is important to start using a soft-bristled baby toothbrush and a tiny smear of child-safe toothpaste for children under the age of 2. After age 2, use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste to clean your child’s teeth. Brushing and flossing your child’s teeth at least twice a day is recommended. Until around age 7, we suggest that parents brush and floss their child’s teeth for them until they have developed the necessary motor skills.

It is crucial to avoid giving your child a bottle filled with juice or other sweetened liquids before bedtime. If necessary, provide them with water instead to reduce the risk of tooth decay.

Teething can be uncomfortable for your child, but you can help alleviate their discomfort by providing a chilled teething ring and gently wiping their gums with a cold washcloth before and after meals.

When your child’s teeth begin to erupt, schedule a “well-baby” appointment with a pediatric dentist like Dr. Kepler. Pediatric dentists are specially trained to provide dental care for infants and young children to ensure that they remain healthy and develop correctly.
